In agriculture practices, pests and diseases have a great economic significance, as per FAO estimates globally they contribute towards loses of about 20%-40% every year.

Use of Plant Protection Products is therefore very important as a failure in controlling the spread of plant pests and diseases can have disastrous consequences on agricultural production and food security.

But at the same time an improper & irrational use of such products can have serious implications on humans and animals who come in contact either directly or indirectly.

Therefore there are strict regulations for use of such products and companies manufacturing them are required to generate data to validate their efficacy and study if they are safe to use and at what levels. We at Ross, offer a variety of services as per our customers needs be it for in-house validation, development of new products or generating data as per regulatory requirements.

Efficacy trials are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the agrochemicals on their target pest. For instance, Efficacy of a herbicide in controlling its target weed, efficacy of an insecticide in controlling its targeted insect pests and so on for fungicides, rodenticides etc.

Persistency studies help to find the time and concentrations until when the product is persistent on the crop, different types of soil and water.

We have formed collaborations with various partners to conduct Efficacy & Persistency trials. We provide guidance based on scientific and agricultural expertise to design and conduct trials. The trials are designed with respect to the crops, land, seasons and agro-climatic zones as per the applicable regulatory guidelines

Residue trials are conducted to study the level of residues of agrochemicals in crop and soil post application. The residue trials are designed such that they consider the proposed mode of application, the sampling procedure and the analysis. Results of several trials carried out in different localities and under different geo-climatic conditions are required to set the Maximum Residue Levels and pre-harvest intervals.

Ross can undertake collaborative trials in the field and can also manage the transport of samples from the fields to analytical laboratories for analysis.
